Kingsley Pascal (26) from Kagera and Magabe Matiku Marwa 31, from Mara over the weekend became the latest millionaires in town after they won SportPesa’s mega jackpot which stood at 825 million.
This was the first time that the mega jackpot has been won since the company started its operations in Tanzania in 2017.
The winners who are in government service predicted 13 matches correctly by wedging Sh2,000.
Speaking at a news conference in Dar es Salaam, Sport Pesa’s director of administration and compliance, Tarimba Abbas said the duo will each take home Sh412M after tax.
The taxman will in the process earn some Sh190 million as the winning tax.
Tarimba said they feel proud to get the major jackpot winners since the establishment of the jackpot in 2017.
He said the firm last week has paid out Sh997 million to winners in various betting products.
He said the total of 462 winners have so far awarded the total of Sh172 million as bonus for the week that ended on August 25.
