Who owns OdiBets?
OdiBets, the latest entrant into Kenya’s betting market, has been linked to former president Mwai Kibaki’s son, Jimmy Kibaki.
Jimmy is said to be the chairman of the betting firm Odibets.
OdiBets, which started its operations a few weeks ago has already disrupted the market, with billboards and major advertisements across Nairobi.
They further, signed a Sh60 million three-year shirt sponsorship deal with Premier League side, Mathare United, saving it from its financial woes.
The deal will see the betting firm become the sole sponsors, providing the team with game kits, training kits as well as paying the players’ salaries and bonuses, as well as those of members of the technical bench.
In return, the gaming firm Odibets will have their brand emblazoned on the team’s kits.
The firm, during the signing of the deal a few weeks ago, said they are interested in helping the team as well as grow football from the grassroots.
